So I met this girl but she dumped me. It’s appropriate that I’m listening to the new Starflyer pretty much nonstop these days. It’s a little depressing, but it’s freaking genius. It will be battling with The New Limb for the rest of the year for my top album spot. I’m not sure who will win. What do you guys think?
I’m still around. We’re working on some new MRB material and we just got back from Comic-Con so that has kept me pretty occupied. Even though I had to sleep in the tub in Bernie’s room the convention was pretty incredible. I’m sure someone will post pics and stuff somewhere around here, I’m just too lazy to do it right now. I’ve been listening to The New Limb constantly and you should be too!
Today’s comic does not lie. I love Easter candy. It is definitely my favorite of all holiday candy, probably because of Cadbury Eggs. My favorite are the Creme Eggs but Mini Eggs are a very close second. The Monday after Easter is one of my favorite days of the year as stores all over mark down their candy to insanely cheap prices. This year I nearly lost a fin in a battle for some Starburst Jelly Beans, but it was totally worth it. Now we have the long wait until Halloween. Hopefully my candy reserves can hold up.
Sorry I have been sick. I also was trying to help Brax get his facebook page up and running. The dude already got locked out of his Facebook account! He is claiming it is not his fault, but seeing as how he manages to break everything he touches related to technology, I don’t buy it. So I am keeping the page updated while he figures that out.
What else is new? I got a new Xbox yesterday so I can finally download the rest of the Beatles albums and some of that other Rock Band DLC as well. I don’t know if I’ll have time to play it anytime soon though since Final Fantasy 13 came out today. Yeah, I’m an RPG geek. Fight me.
Remember Zines? I’ve always been a fan, so much so that Brax and I are currently in the planning stages of publishing our first zine. I’m not sure what we’re going to call it yet. I’m partial to Manny Rules the World but for some reason Brax isn’t keen on that. Brendan and Phil will be contributing their comics to the project, which is pretty cool, I guess. I’m looking to review some albums so if you have one you would like to send or tell me about, be sure to let me know.
While I said earlier that I agreed with Rolling Stone’s assesment of Radiohead being the band of the decade, I have to say that Starflyer 59′s Dial M is my choice for album of the decade. I have listened to it more in the two years it has been out than any other album I have pretty much ever. That’s saying a lot since I pretty much listen to music all day long. I can never grow tired of the combined rock and synth sounds, a blend that Jason Martin has truly perfected on this album. After The Brothers Martin album was released in 2007 I knew that Jason’s next offering would be something special and I certainly wasn’t let down. If you haven’t checked this out yet, you are totally missing out.
Brax interviewed Jason Martin of Starflyer 59. I don’t know how he did it. He sure as heck didn’t tell me about it. Someone please tell Brax I am mad at him because I am not speaking to him right now.
So earlier we were talking about a real guitar that was turned into a Rock Band controller. The You Rock Guitar one ups that because it is a real working guitar AND it is a Rock Band controller. I’ll definitely be interested in buying it when they offer support for the 360. It has lots of other cool real guitar features and it looks like it’s going to be pretty affordable. So hopefully this will give you some ideas for my birthday, which is only six months away!
Got some tunes you would like me to listen to? Want to tell me how awesome I am? You can now do that by going here and sending me a message. You can even send me questions and I will answer them right here on this blog. So go ahead, what are you waiting for?
I just read that Rolling Stone named Radiohead’s Kid A their Best Album of the Decade. I can’t believe I’m saying this since their writing has totally gone downhill in recent years, but I agree with Rolling Stone. The other day someone (their name will be withheld to save them from embarrassment and possible stoning) told me that Britney Spears was the artist of the decade. After withholding the urge to hurl, I quickly told them that if anyone deserved that moniker, it is Radiohead. In addition to dropping some amazing albums in the last 10 years, they’ve also managed to turn the entire industry on its head with their digital release of In Rainbows and paved the way for tons of indie folks to follow suit. For that alone they deserve serious props but their music is also awesome. Great job, guys!
