Interview with M.R.B.

This week I decided to mix it up a little. Since the holidays are a time for family, I thought I'd take my interview a little closer to home. So, this week I interviewed Manny the Manta Ray and Rosy the Rose from my very own band, M.R.B. If you've been following the comic, you know a little bit of the history of the band, but hopefully Manny and Rosy can add a little further insight. Brax: Tell me about the band Name M.R.B.

Manny: It comes from our band members' initials. Brax, everyone already knows this.

Rosy: ...

Brax: What music project are you currently working on?

Manny: We just finished our first demo. We should have some songs up on our MySpace soon.

Brax: What makes your band special?

Manny: That's a dumb question. We're the only alien/manta ray/rose band I've ever heard of.

Rosy: ...

Brax: Good point, Rosy. OK, If you could travel at light speed, where would you go, and why?

Manny: Good point Rosy?! I didn't hear her say anything! Brax, this interview is getting ridiculous!

Brax: Calm down, Manny. I'm just trying to give Rosy a chance to speak too. So, describe your dream concert. Include where you’d play and what other bands you’d play with.
Manny: Giving Rosy a chance to speak?! Brax, you need some serious help.

Rosy: ...

Brax: Thank you Rosy. Manny, you're not really answering the questions I'm asking. Let's try another one. Where do you see your band in five years?

Manny: In a loony bin, talking to plants.

Rosy: ...

Brax: iPod, CD, Vinyl, or other? Why?

Manny: Finally, a decent question. You know how I feel, but for the audience's benefit, I am an iPod guy. Why tote around a bunch of CDs when you can pack it all into one tiny, awesome piece of technology. Vinyl is great too, but I haven't had a record player since you messed mine up, Brax. Who carries record players around in a car anyway?

Brax: Yeah, sorry about that. It still works, though. You just have to spin the turntable manually. Anyway, tell me about your best and worst live shows ever.

Manny: We opened up for Band of Bots. That was our best and worst show. Best because we rocked it, worst because of those stupid Bots!

Brax: How do you feel about intergalactic travel?

Manny: You know I hate all of these dumb questions you always ask the bands. Who cares what a musician thinks of space travel? And for the last time, I'm not coming to your family's planet for New Years, or any other holiday. My mom would freak! So you can stop asking me about intergalactic travel!

Rosy: ...

Brax: Yes Rosy, you can come instead. Any advice for others trying to “make it” in music?

Manny: Don't be in a band with someone who talks to their plants. That hasn't worked out for too many artists yet. Except maybe for the Black Eyed Peas. That Will.i.am dude is pretty weird.

Brax: Anything else you’d like to add?

Manny: Try asking some real questions next time.

Rosy: ...
