Long Beach Comic Con Wrap-up.
The First Annual Long Beach Comic Con was a great success! Not only did we have a fantastic time there, our webcomics panel/gathering was better than we could have imagined!
Here's the details:
Friday at the Convention was, for me, devoted almost entirely to playing video games at the Nintendo booth. (Yes, music fans can be into video games too. How else do you think the whole Guitar Hero/Rock Band thing caught on?)
Saturday I walked around the floor, meeting the few other webcomics folks that were there, and promoting our upcoming panel on Sunday. I also caught a cool video game/comic themed band called Kirby Krackle. Who knew I would find a free show at a comic convention?
Sunday included a few more trips to the Nintendo booth, but was mostly consumed with the preparation for our panel. We followed the awesome Webcomics Lightning Round with Dave Kellett, David Malki, and Jeff Zugale. After their panel, we launched right into our braxcomics.com panel. We had a pretty decent turnout, considering we were the absolute last panel on the last day of the first annual convention, and especially since our event was accidentally left out of the final version of the convention programs!
After a round of webcomic related trivia (with candy bar prizes!), Phil and Brendan talked about an exciting new venture, a coalition of webcomic fans and creators known as the Webcomics Advocates of Southern California. I'll elaborate on this as more details come to light, but let's just say there are some big things on the horizon around here.
After a Q&A session with Phil and Brendan, the audience was invited to meet each other, network, and have a free soda!
All in all, it was a great time and, best of all, we've already been asked back to next year's convention!
Awesome!
Brax.
