Band 101- Battle of the Bands.

Last week I briefly stopped by a local battle of the bands, which was sponsored by KROQ. I say briefly, because I was very, very disappointed. The promoters exaggerated and thus falsely advertised for their event. Why, you ask? For one simple reason:
None of the bands fought!
That's right, I went to an event called "battle of the bands" and not one single punch was thrown. No fights broke out. No one attacked anyone else. Each band simply played a set and then exited the stage. It was more like a "friendly competition of the bands" if you ask me.
What about the bands? Well, the two I saw made one fatal error: They never mentioned their band name. If you are in a band and you play a show, always say your band name at least four or five times. Otherwise, people will blog about you later and have no idea who you were.
This whole thing got me thinking. I have a lot of wisdom to share with bands on such matters, so I am starting a series of posts filled with tips and expert advice on how to succeed in a band.
So lesson one is: always say your band name several times from stage.
Oh, and if you ever enter a battle of the bands, don't punch anyone. I guess.
Brax.
